Course:  Teen Vaping and Its Role in Caries and Drug Addiction

Objectives:

Over the last several years, more states are legalizing recreational marijuana and more teens are vaping. This course will show the health risks of vaping and how vaping results in future cigarette smoking. In one section, a presentation will show how this increase in teen vaping increases the risk of caries and marijuana smoking. Last, with new US and UK research in this area, a segment will the link between marijuana smoking in teens and adult schizophrenia and an increase in teen violence. This information will help the practitioner recognize such habits in their patients and offer insight into managing it and offering methods of helping these patients.

1. Learn the relationship between nicotine and an increased risk to caries
2. Recognize how vaping leads to cigarette smoking
3. Understand how vaping and cigarette smoking increases the risk of teen marijuana smoking
4. Learn now marijuana smoking leads to adult schizophrenia
