New Prevention techniques and Strategies for Oral Health Programs

This lecture will cover new preventative techniques and strategies in Pediatric Dentistry including the new means of understanding of the caries disease process and its risk factors.  Other topics covered will be prevention techniques such as SDF, 1x1 from the AAPD, and Fl as well as new Pediatric Dental strategies in preventing caries.  These new strategies include. A simplified CRA, new materials for sealants, as well as an update on the caries process and the hot new topic of MIH.

Objectives:

 

  1.  List and describe how to use the new CRA Form
  2.  Identify and treat teeth with MIH
  3.  Understand the updated information on the Caries Process and how caries is a Ph   mediated disease
  4.  Describe the indications and contraindications of evolving prevention techniques and materials based on risk

  2.  Learn how to recognize, diagnose, and treat teeth with MIH
  3.  Learn the caries process and how to create an individualized treatment plan for each patient
